Ode to Green Garlic

April has not only been Garlic Month, but also POETRY MONTH.

So here is my dedication to what some lovingly call “The Stinking Rose”

Winter warms into spring

up pop green arrows indicating Via Aglio Verde.

Lithe, stalky

Feathery yet solidly rooted

Ivory microphone to alliate cravings

Not yet cloven

not yet the deliciously pungent

need of the world.

Delicate adolescent

herbaceous but undoubtedly

GARLIC.
